Settegast Heights Redevelopment Corporation Northeast Community
EIN: 85-1826596
History is woven into the fabric of the Settegast Community. Settgast has a long and important history. Founded in 1892 by J W Settegast, this hidden small historical jewel, population of 17,425 residents now have the opportunity to rebuild its roots. Historic preservation is the pillar of this community. Located on the Northeast side of Houston, Texas, within 8 miles of downtown, Settegast is one of the oldest African American Communities and considered one of the disadvantage and at risk communities in the area. Historical housing is significant to prevent displacement of residents and a loss of its one-hundred and twenty eight year rich history. The population consist of 94% Blacks and 6% Hispanics and once was a thriving community. SHRC is the catalyst for affordable housing, economic development, education, environmental injustice, healthy living, arts and cultural, and disaster recovery. We aim to build strong collaborative partnerships and develop strong partnerships by working very closely with the community.
